It's Mother's Day! š My mother and I have had a tumultuous relationship š„ When I was growing up, she was every bit as strict, overbearing, and demanding as any stereotypical Chinese "tiger mom" šÆ, and boy did it clash with my easily distracted daydreaming persona š We fought constantly throughout my teenage years, to the point where when I turned 18 I booked it right outta there š Since then, I've come to realize that the endless berating š£ļø, the nights of screaming and crying over homework and bad grades š, all the forsaken extracurricular activities š¹ were, in a [very] weird way, a sort of love language for my mom. All she ever wanted was for me to be "successful", because in her culture, success š²=happiness š. Our relationship has mellowed out and greatly improved over time (funny how that can happen when given space and autonomy š¬) and I've learned to appreciate some of the tough trials she's put me through šŖ Anyway, with all that I just wanna say I love my mom. I hope all of you are able to appreciate your own mothers, no matter the relationship you have or had with them š Have a wonderful day, bbs ā¤ļø
