(Puerto-Rican rice) ๐ต๐ท๐ (Press Play!) *Veggie Friendly.* ~Need: *1 Caldero Pot (Cauldron!) *1 tbsp Olive Oil *(If using meat... 1/3 Cup Ham or Pork) *1/3 Cup Sofrito *3 Cups Water or Veggie Broth *1/3 Cup Tomato Sauce * 1 Tsp Dried Oregano (Additional options: rosemary, thyme, basil) *1/4 Cup Cilantro (Optional) *2-3 Bay Leaves *2 Cups Rice *15 Oz. Can Pigeon Peas (Gandules) ~Directions: ๐ดPut Caldero on Low-Medium Heat ๐ดCombine olive oil, sofrito and meat if using, then add sazon and tomato sauce. STIR constantly for 4 mins until Boiling ๐ดAdd your water or broth ๐ดNEXT add in your drained pigeon peas, oregano, bay leaves (other herbs now too) ๐ดYou want the mix to be HIGHLY seasoned. Once mixture is boiling add the rice! ๐ดAllow the rice to absorb everything (20-25 mins), do best not to lift the Caldero lid as you want the rice to saturate. ENJOY!!!
