We finish the week saying goodbye to this photo set made with the help of a dear friend while in Puerto Vallarta for Beefdip 😜 Tomorrow I start a challenge I've been looking forward to for a while. At first I called it "Eight" (thanks to my hubby and J Dave for brainstorming with me) because the idea is to create eight new songs from scratch in eight days, writing, performing and recording each of them in 8 hour studio sessions on each of the days. The original idea was to broadcast it live on Youtube and stuff. But as the months went by (the idea was born in September last year) I realized that I needed a little more freedom and privacy to really open my creative doors and flow. And I realized that if I was going to go live, I would feel the need to answer comments and interact with viewers, and that's not good for writing. At the same time, I had the idea of doing a Kickstarter or something like that so we could offer a vinyl to those who wanted to preorder it (so we could pay the factory, they take 6 months or more to make it). But shipping vinyl from Mexico is complicated at best, so I've scrapped that idea as well, and I'll probably include two to three extra songs I've been developing, so it'll end up being an album of up to 12 songs. So this has all evolved into a place where I can focus on recording and maybe release a making of video later if there's enough material shot during the 8 days. I also wondered if it was a good idea to make a big announcement about it. But then I thought: hey, I need to feel proud, happy and excited about this challenge. It's like when I create new music, the first thing I want is for my friends to hear it and share the joy. I hope to have good news for you in eight days!
