It's been a wild 48 hours babes...I got back from my trip 2am Tuesday morning and then all day Tuesday after I woke up, I was experiencing a weird pressure/pain in the middle of my chest (aka where my heart is). I finally caved and called a nurse hotline yesterday evening who advised me to go to the ER to make sure it wasn't bloood clot or heart related. I walked out after 1am this morning with a diagnosis of costochondritis - I'm guessing from over-exertion (aka climbing a lot lol). I'm so grateful it's nothing worse. This is my 2nd rib cage injury since I started climbing - a little over a year ago, I pulled or tore a muscle between two of my ribs on my right side. I ignored it for a month because I didn't want to take a break from climbing/yoga before it became super painful to even breathe. Luckily, I'm catching my current injury much earlier on, so I'm hoping that my recovery will be much quicker too. I can't fathom not being able to climb for 8 weeks again 🥹 Especially just as I was finalizing my plans for when I'm finally going to hit the road and where I'll be starting my full-time van life journey 🧡 I want to get as much training as possible in before then. My body is telling me to slow down for a lil, so I'm going to listen to it, but I cannot waittt to get back to it as soon as I safely can. Setbacks like this remind me of how fuckin grateful I am for my health and for being able-bodied. What a privilege it is to be able to climb and move my body in sooo many ways that give me so much joy and pleasure. I don't take it for granted. I know this is usually a very sexy site and I promise to get back to my sexy self asap, but if you have had your own experience with costochondritis, I'd love to hear about your healing process if you're open to sharing.
