A quick little fun history on Christmas ornaments: fruits and and nuts were traditionally used in the days of old to decorate the tree as a sign of good will for the coming spring harvest. A German glassblower down on his luck couldn’t afford fresh fruit to string, and instead made his own out of glass (how that’s cheaper I’m not sure but…) and the glass ornaments took off in popularity. This trend continued into WW2, when an obvious stop to German imports was made.
