I encourage anyone who’s having thoughts of suicide to please reach out to someone you know or there’s always the suicide hotline at 800-273-8255. I bring this up because I found out a Y O U N G (restricted word) patient 26 year old male who was brought in by ambulance last week as a code in full cardiac arrest had passed away at the hospital we transferred him to after we had gotten him stabilized enough to be care flighted. He had taken a lethal amount of sodium cyanide in a decision to take his own life. Not long after ....he called 911 and gave them his location and said “ I’ve done something dumb.” This was noted in the ER notes upon patient arrival. My heart breaks for his parents and those closest to him. He didn’t want to die and the 911 call from him was evident of that. Some things can’t be undone.
