I just loved how absolutely transparent they were about their insecurities, fears and boundaries as well as their turn-ons and turn-offs. Vulnerability like that builds trust and security that the communication channels might remain transparent during and after the experience, which significantly reduces the likelihood of unwanted drama, confusion and potential hurt feelings. And since we have a severe drama phobia, we find ourselves really sort of naturally endeared to couples that are comfortable just saying it like it is without judging themselves or expecting judgment from us.
It can be super uncomfortable to share vulnerabilities in the lifestyle, so often people will try to manage any unexpected uncomfortable feelings in-house rather than discussing it openly with the other couple. Unfortunately the other couple can often tell that something is amiss regardless of whether or not it’s directly addressed, which puts a damper on the fun factor that drew us all to the lifestyle in the first place. Open communication and vulnerability between couples just puts everyone in such a nice position to make the experience mutually enjoyable, and Terri & Trevor knocked it out of the park on this one!
