URETHRAL SOUNDING
A 70 year old man stuck a pencil up his urethra. Wood is porous. It got stuck for an entire day. He sought medical attention because he couldn't pe-e around it, but failed to mention that he had inserted a pencil until the doctor examining him inquired about the erasor sticking out of the tip of his dick. He required surgery for removal.
Urethral Sounding is a real thing. There are a lot of nerve endings in your urethra and deep urethral sounding is a way for men to directly massage the prostate...but it's risky AF.
Here are the basics of safer sounding...but DO YOUR RESEARCH if you're considering giving it a go. DO NOT rely solely on what I'm sharing here!
1) Never insert an item that is not designed for urethral sounding into the urethra – this includes fingers...and of course, pencils!!
2) Always use a sterile water-based lubricant and lots of it.
3) Always sterilize toys.
4) Clean your hands and genitals thoroughly prior to play. You may even prefer to wear gloves.
5) NEVER force anything. Seriously, never. Urethral sounding is slow play. Take it super slowly or don't do it at all.
6) Use the right toy – you should never go too big or too small when you sound. Choosing a toy that is too thick can result in overstretching/tearing the urethra, and a metal sound that’s too thin can result in a puncture.
7) Never push through pain, particularly sharp or very localized pain.
8) Always urinate straight after play to flush your urethra of any lube or bacteria that may have been inserted.
9) It may sting a little bit when you pe-e afterwards - a LITTLE stinging is common afterward but it should last no longer than 24 hours.
10) Seek medical attention if you’re still experiencing stinging beyond 24 hours, if there’s pain beyond stinging or pain that gets progressively worse and if there's any sign of puncture (such as unusual discharge or blo-od).
