Added 2022-01-14 22:02:31 +0000 UTCI almost forgot...there was the one super NOT sexy part of the cruise. A pregnant woman who was on the cruise required surgery in the middle of the night and had to be air lifted out to the nearest port the following day.
Luckily, there was a passenger on the ship who happened to be qualified to perform the procedure. In the middle of the night (or the very early morning hours) announcements were made seeking passengers who were willing to donate blo-od. We must have been dancing at the time, because we never heard the announcements. We found out about the whole ordeal the following morning when announcements were made and different parts of the ship were being shut down to accommodate preparations for the emergency chopper landing. It circled the ship for nearly an hour before finally landing.
We heard a couple of rumors about what medical attention the woman required, some notably more sensational and dramatic than others. But the information above (along with the fact that she was doing well a couple of days later) was all that was provided to us officially. Scary stuff. I can't even imagine how she and her significant other felt.
