Today I’ve been without my mom for 9 years… almost to the minute.
For 9 years I have been a motherless mother, a motherless human after having one for 24 years..
From raising me to get in the sunshine, kneading the dough, making the roux, never gravy from a packet…
To never giving up & always pushing through even when the rain is the hardest & the wind the coolest.. always find the sunshine be someone’s sunshine. Go to the beach if you can. Send a smile if you can. Believe in all that is good. Wake up & be grateful. Wake up & say thank you.
I wish she could see me now. All I’ve accomplished. Businesses ran, bachelors degree obtained, raising another baby she only met once & bought what was my dream home at the time…
I’m helpful, I’m loving, I’m kind, I’m caring, I’m a hard worker and in all things I do I hope she knows I’m able to because she taught me who to be & I hope she watches down on me everyday with pride.
9 years feels like a whole lifetime.
