There's a festival season that starts January 6th and lasts through February/march depending on when Lent is that year. Mardi gras celebrations are the last big blow out before having to give up all the things you love, such as alcohol, meat, and most sweets
King cake is traditionally served at parties during this time and there's usually a baby hidden inside. Whoever gets the piece with the baby has to host the next party, though that tradition seems to vary by region
It's a huge thing in the southeast United States from Louisiana to Florida.
It might not be just Catholics that celebrate this, idk, I'm not religious. I just like to join in on the debauchery π
