I am back in Peñaflor and I can’t tell you how much I love being back in warm weather! It’s so cold in Coyhaique and I was wearing four layers everyday. Today, I wore this super cute top and some white shorts! I let those pale legs get some much needed sunlight 😎
Weird fact I learned, you can put some mushrooms in the sun for like 20 minutes before you eat them and they soak up more vitamin D! Isn’t that freaking cool?! 🍄🍄🟫 I think sautéed mushrooms goes on my list of favorite foods. Like if a sketchy van pulled up with a sign that said “free sautéed mushrooms inside,” I’d probably get in 🤷♀️

It was by the town of Villa Mañiguales and the drive to get there was stunning ✨✨ My entire experience down in Patagonia has been breathtaking from the start and I’ve barely scratched the tip of this magnificent iceberg 🥰
Also, do you see my hair? That’s my NATURAL hair!! I’ve been working on different ways to do my hair and it used to take FOREVER. I finally found a mousse and hair gel to apply when my hair is soaking wet to help hold my curls as they drive (thank you random tiktok girls for all their curly girl hair advice) and it’s been working really well. I get out of the shower, slap on some hair products, let it air dry, and BOOM—hair is done :D My hair feels so soft now 🥰 One of these days I’ll make a video showing how I do my hair now because it looks ridiculous and we could all use a good laugh 😂 Hope you’re having an amazing night! I just made myself some “shamamolay” tea and I’m ready for bed. And with that, I lay my card face down and end my turn 🤭

Southern Chile is a true beauty. Everywhere I go, my jaw is hanging wide open! The trees are so green, the Rocky Mountains stand so tall, and the people are so incredible and kind. The food is delicious and I’m meeting new people everyday that have so many stories to share!
I had the pleasure of visiting the Capillas de Mármol (the marble chapels) in Lago General Carrera (Lake General Carrera). I left Coyhaique around 5:30 AM and arrived at Puerto Rio Tranquilo at 10:45AM. The drive was long and bumpy but the scenery was fantastic. My group and I put on our life jackets and and jumped into a small boat.
This water was turquoise blue. I think it’s the most beautiful blue water I have ever seen in my entire life. Our guide told us that the mineral in the water in the dimmer months is what makes it so blue and in the winter time, it’s a lot clearer. I have to say this again, the water was so damn BLUE and BRIGHT!
The rock surrounding the water is made of marble and because of perfect conditions in this specific lake, the water has been eroding its way through to make beautiful caves. These caves are big enough to fit small boats and there’s even a tunnel you can ride through. The marble is smooth to the touch but it looks like someone carved it out with a tool. They’re breathtaking and they look badass. If you ever find yourself in Patagonia, make sure to check these out! :)
The ride back, unfortunately, was awful. I feel like my ass is permanently square now. My butthole might even be square now because I was sitting for so long 😭 I could really use a massage… and I’d happily pay you for it ;)

Today was incredible!! I had a wonderful breakfast in Puerto Montt at a nearby cafe where they served me delicious eggs and perfect French toast with fruit on top. Soon after, we headed out to Chiloé Island!
To get to the island, you put your car on a small ferry. I have never driven a car onto a ferry boat so it was a little scary but I did it! Once on board, you can get out of your car and walk around or climb the stairs to the look out. You can also buy a hot tea and an alfajore during the ride :) Alfajores are delicious little cookie sandwiches with manjar (dulce de leche) inside :) It also sounds like you’re saying “alpha-whore” when you say it with an English accent… which I do often 😂 Side note, they are building a bridge from the mainland to Chiloé that should be complete in two years-ish. When it’s completely, I want to come back and drive over it!
After offloading, we drove 1 1/2 hours to a city called Castro. It’s the biggest city on the island and they are known for having colorful homes sitting on stilts above the water and iconic wooden churches built by Jesuit missionaries in the 17th and 18th centurie! These little churches are so tiny and so flipping adorable. There’s a larger church in Plaza de Armand in Castro called “The Church of San Francisco” that’s yellow with purple roofs. It kind of looks like a castle/dollhouse that a carpenter would make for his daughter in the 1950s.
For lunch, I looked for the highest rated restaurant in the area and when we found it and sat down, I realized it was a Peruvian restaurant (of course 🤷♀️). I had a lomo saltado (steak) with a side of risotto and it was heavenly. I’m also terrified that I’ll get sick when I go on vacation so I’ve been drinking hot teas for every meal ☕️.
As I walked through Castro, everyone has been turning their heads to look up at me. I forget how tall I am compared to Chileans (which isn’t even that tall; 5’8”) and it doesn’t help that my dad is 6’7” 😂 There are so many shows everywhere and the walk ability is great! I feel like my dreams tonight are going to be filled with vibrant colors inspired by Castro tonight!
Tomorrow I’m catching a flight to Coyhaique, Chile, and I’m hoping to see the Catedrales de Mármol (Marble Cathedral caves) at some point. I have never kayaked before but to get to the caves requires a boat or kayak. I can’t wait to pop my kayak cherry :D

Sooo… someone forgot to book the hotel last night and everyone in Puerto Montt was booked solid. Let me tell you, trying to find somewhere to sleep at 2 am after driving for 8 hours is ✨brutal.✨ I was seriously worried that we were going to have to sleep in the car or on a park bench but then my dad came up with a great idea… A no tell motel! I have never stayed in one before and so my first experience with one was with my father 😂 We each got our own rooms and—just wow. I got to pay for my stay through a box in the wall next to the bed. There was a jacuzzi, fancy light set ups like it was porno ready, and a bright red light under the bed. This was a fascinating experience for me haha. I rented the room for 8 hours for $54… Every single hotel around wants over $200 for last minute bookings but this random no tell motel was a bargain and I honestly got some pretty amazing sleep! So it you’re ever in need of a place to stay and all the hotels are booked, look for a no tell motel 😂

I rode my bike for the first time since my surgery!! There’s a beautiful dirt path through the bosque by the Rio Grande that had quite a few geese and cranes! They were so talkative until I said “hey chickens!” and they then gave me the silent treatment -_-“
